Redefining Design Education

Synthetix Design Lab was founded on the belief that technology should not replace the designer, but should act as a force multiplier for human imagination.

Our Journey Since 2021

Founded in 2021 in the heart of San Francisco, Synthetix Design Lab emerged as a direct response to the rapid and often chaotic evolution of generative AI. What began as a series of small, experimental workshops for local Bay Area designers has quickly transformed into a global education platform, serving a community of creators from over 50 countries.

In those early days, our founder Marcus Thorne recognized that while the tools of our trade were changing, the fundamental principles of good design—hierarchy, balance, and user empathy—remained as vital as ever. The challenge was not just to use the new technology, but to master it in a way that preserved the soul of the work.

By early 2023, we reached a major milestone of 10,000 certified graduates. Each of these individuals has gone on to integrate AI into their professional practices, proving that the Synthetix methodology is not just theoretical, but a practical necessity for the modern digital economy.

Today, we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. Our laboratory in San Francisco serves as both a classroom and a research center, where we collaborate with leading AI developers to refine the workflows of tomorrow. We are more than just a school; we are a collective of forward-thinking individuals committed to the ethical and creative application of neural intelligence.

Our Mission & Values

We operate at the intersection of technological progress and creative responsibility. Our core values guide every module we build and every session we lead.

Ethical AI Integration

We believe that with great power comes a profound responsibility. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of data transparency, artist credit, and the mitigation of bias in generative outputs. We advocate for a future where AI respects the human origins of creativity.

Human-Centric Creativity

Technology should serve humanity, not the other way around. Every workflow we teach is designed to put the designer back in the driver's seat. We focus on tools that enhance human intuition rather than those that seek to automate away the critical thinking process.

Continuous Iteration

The field of AI changes almost daily. At Synthetix, we embrace this volatility as an opportunity for growth. We are committed to constantly updating our courses and methodologies to ensure our students always have access to the most effective techniques.
